Siemens rail infrastructure executive among six who died after helicopter crash in the Hudson River on Thursday

Six people including Agustín Escobar, a Siemens executive, and his family, according to a law enforcement in New York City on Thursday.

The helicopter was for sightseeing and the accident took place at around 3:17 p.m. in New York City near the Holland Tunnel.

Based in Barcelona, Escobar was the global CEO for rail infrastructure for Siemens and led Siemens Spain since 2022.

The flight log shows the family and pilots flew near the Statue of Liberty and then over the Hudson River, turning around just past the George Washington Bridge.

The crash took place on the Jersey side of the river before coming down near Jersey City. 

Video footage shows the helicopter coming almost straight down and creating a large splash on impact.

ABC News Reported Escobar had gone sightseeing with his wife Merce Camprubi Montal and their three children, 4, 5, and 11, when the crash claimed their lives. The pilot also died.
