Bath-Haverling win Large School title, Alfred Almond are Small School champs

STEUBEN COUNTY- A large, enthusiastic crowd was on hand at Avoca Central School Monday night to take in the 41st Academic All-Stars championships. Of the sixteen teams that competed throughout the six-week season, the top four were honored with trophies for their respective divisions and then faced off for the Large and Small School championship titles.
The first match of the evening was between Canisteo-Greenwood, with coaches Chris Romanchock and Patricia Stauring, and Bath Haverling, with coaches Kristina Snavely and Kate McKinley. Canisteo-Greenwood came out strong, and had the lead after A-Team play, however Bath-Haverling rallied in a strong B-Team round to finish with a 47 – 44 victory making them the 2025 Janet W. Richardson Large School Champions.

The second match saw the Canaseraga team, led by coach Lacey Dieter, square off against Alfred-Almond, coached by Steve Donlon. Although Canaseraga performed admirably, the Alfred-Almond team was on point and won with an astonishing score of 127 – 38. They were named the 2025 Angelina R. Karr Small School Champions.
Also presented was the Barbara Fairbanks Service Award, recognizing a person for outstanding work with All-Stars. Marcia Lichtman was honored for her 15 years of serving as Moderator, as well as contributions to the Scholarship Committee.
