McInroy, Hammond and Dineen victorious in Canisteo Village Elections

Richard McInroy will be the new village mayor

With 372 total votes cast, village of Canisteo voters have tapped Richard McInroy as their next mayor. Mayoral votes were dispersed as follows:

Following Republican caucuses that nominated Thompson, McInroy sought petitions to ensure there was a choice for voters in the mayoral race. A Canisteo native, he brings previous experience as a village trustee and deputy mayor to the position. When contacted following the election McInroy expressed “Thanks to everyone for their support. It really meant a lot to me.” The incoming mayor is committed to continuing work on major village improvement projects such as the ongoing water project, collaboration with FEMA and the Army Corp of Engineers on dike improvement, public safety and road repair.

Republican James Dineen was re-elected to another term as village trustee. Currently, Dineen is the board liaison with village, planning, zoning and code enforcement. Republican Robert Hammond was elected to his first term as trustee. Hammond has run his long-established business, B & B Repair Service in the village since 1985. He thanked residents for their support and is eager to do his part to make the village a better place for its residents and taxpayers. Hammond cited road improvements and police protection as two community aspects requiring ongoing vigilance.
