2pm Concert features Jazz, Chorus, and Honors Band
From ACSMA,
March is Music In Our Schools Month® (MIOSM®), a nationwide celebration recognizing the vital role of music education in schools. In perfect alignment with this celebration, the Allegany County Schools Music Association (ACSMA) is proud to present the ACSMA All-County Honors Festival #2 Concert on Saturday, March 8, at 2:00 PM at Houghton University.
The ACSMA All-County Honors Festivals provide a unique opportunity to showcase the dedication and talent of student musicians and their educators, who contribute to vibrant music programs throughout Allegany County. This festival is co-chaired by Rebekah Brennan and Tara Luthart, both music educators at Belfast Central School. More than 100 outstanding student musicians, representing schools across the county, will come together for intensive rehearsals beginning on Friday, March 7, culminating in a public concert on Saturday, March 8.
Concert Program
The program will open with the ACSMA Senior High All-County Honors Jazz Band, under the direction of Mr. Kirk Miller. A graduate of Potsdam College and Nazareth College, Mr. Miller dedicated 31 years to teaching in the Cuba-Rushford Central School District before retiring in 2020. Throughout his career, he directed the high school and middle school bands, jazz band, pit band, and marching band.
Next, the ACSMA Senior High All-County Honors Chorus will perform under the leadership of Mrs. Stephanie Rosemier. Now in her fifth year as a vocal music teacher at Canisteo-Greenwood Central School District, Mrs. Rosemier teaches General Music and directs multiple vocal ensembles, including the 5th Grade, 6th Grade, Junior High, and Senior High Choruses. She also leads both the Elementary and High School Musicals.
Concluding the afternoon’s performances, the ACSMA Junior High All-County Honors Band will take the stage, conducted by Miss Haley Emhof. Miss Emhof serves as the Instrumental Director for grades 6-12 at Cuba-Rushford, leading the Sixth Grade, Middle School, and High School Concert Bands, as well as the Middle School and High School Jazz Bands and the Marching Band. Additionally, she is the Artistic Director for Cuba-Rushford’s Junior Musicals and serves as both Pit Director and Choreographer for the district’s theatrical productions for grades 6-12.
