JOIN THE BLARNEY AT THE 3RD ANNUAL WORLD’S SHORTEST SAINT PATRICKS DAY PARADE IN DOWNTOWN WELLSVILLE, NY
Kick off your Saint Patrick’s Day long weekend and join the Blarney at the Allegany County Ancient Order of Hibernian’s (AOH) 3rd Annual Worlds’ Shortest Saint Patrick’s Day Parade in Downtown Wellsville, NY. The parade is scheduled for Friday March 14th with a 5 PM Parade start time. Be sure to arrive early and stay late in downtown Wellsville, NY as the AOH Sponsored Worlds’ Shortest Saint Patrick’s Day Parade Route is only 12 feet in length! This year’s Shortest parade Grand Marshall is Allegany County AOH member Mike McCullough who is most deserving of the honor to lead his AOH Division and the Parade! Mike’s wife Kay, is also expected to march with him to help him kick off off the 12 foot parade route. Local Piper Steve Walker of Walker Metalsmiths and Celtic Jewelry of Andover, NY will again escort the Grand Marshall. Past Grand Marshalls Rosie O’Grady and Sister Alice are also expected to be in the parade with the local Allegany County AOH Division and Nick Davis of Genesee Valley Media is expected to have footage and broadcasts from his drones, weather permitting.
Event co-organizer and AOH member Brian Cannon “expects another great crowd of parade spectators as well as World’s Shortest Parade Participating Units including nearby Cattaraugus County and Steuben County NY AOH Divisions and Wellsville’s Emeralds’ Fire Department and Hook & Ladder Truck at the end of the parade. Our Worlds’ Shortest Saint Patricks day parade is also pleased to have our local Wellsville American Legion Auxiliary Color Guard, Unit #702 present the colors during the National Anthem at 5 pm parade start time. The AOH Worlds’ Shortest Saint Patricks Day parade is family and spectator friendly with Irish Music being Played before and after the event. Wellsville’s local restaurants and merchants will be open late for hungry spectators and shopping including Nancy Hart’s “From The Hart” Irish Store at the end of the 12’ parade route and Wellsville Brewing at there start of the 12 foot parade route on Main Street traversing the 12 foot intersection with Eaton Court. other St Pats Day parades claim to be the shortest at 98 feet so we go by our measured and Village Of Wellsville certified 12 foot parade route measurement as being the worlds shortest-we can simply say to do the math-12 feet is shorter than 98 feet!” Cannon also mentioned that “Mayor Randy Shayler and Village of Wellsville have been very supportive of the AOH Sponsored Worlds’ Shortest Saint Patricks Day Parade Event and they will again be painting the emerald green stripes on the parade route this year”
Main Street in Wellsville will close at 4pm on the Parade block with units lining up at approx 4:30-4:45 pm and the Parade Commencing at 5 PM.
