From the American Job Center,

Olean, NY – [2/14/2025] – The Cattaraugus-Allegany Workforce Development Board (CAWDB) is pleased to announce the expansion of its On-the-Job Training (OJT) Program, designed to assist local businesses in hiring and training new employees or upskilling their existing workforce.

Through the OJT Program, employers can receive up to $15,000 per eligible worker through a wage reimbursement of up to 75% during the training program. This initiative provides a cost-effective solution for businesses looking to expand their workforce and develop skilled employees.

“The On-the-Job Training Program is a game-changer for local businesses,” said Jason Miller, Executive Director of CAWDB. “By partnering with employers, we help them offset training costs while ensuring that job seekers gain valuable skills. This is a win-win for both businesses and the local workforce.”

Key Benefits of the OJT Program:

  • Financial Incentives: Employers can be reimbursed for up to 75% of the wage rate for training new employees (maximum $15,000 per employee).
  • Pre-Screened Candidates: Businesses gain access to a pool of qualified job seekers.
  • Customized Training: Employers can tailor training programs to meet their specific needs.
  • Streamlined Process: CAWDB provides full assistance, ensuring a smooth experience with minimal paperwork.

Eligibility and Application Process

Employers must agree to hire OJT participants as full-time, regular employees and provide wages and benefits comparable to similar roles within their company. OJT participants cannot replace recently laid-off employees, and businesses can also promote current employees if they are training for a different position.
