Longtime Alfred resident, business owner, and community activist has long family history of public service
Dear Alfred Village Residents,
It is with great honor that I announce my candidacy for the position of Village Justice of Alfred. I am grateful to the Alfred Village Democrats for placing their trust in me and recognizing my commitment to this community we all hold dear.
For those who may not know me, I grew up in and around Alfred, attended Alfred-Almond School, and later returned to the area to start Living Acres Farm with my husband. For the past 15 years, we’ve operated a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program and participated in local farmers’ markets. I was also one of the founders of the Alfred Farmers Market and currently serve as its Board President. The vision behind the market was to create a welcoming space where village residents, Alfred University students, and Alfred State students could gather, connect, and support the local economy in a fun and healthy way. Over the years, I’ve seen the Alfred Farmers Market become just that—a vital cornerstone of our community.
In addition to my work in farming, I spent seven years as the Health and Wellness Coordinator at Alfred University, where I worked closely with students on issues related to safety, health, and well-being. A key part of my role was running the Alcohol and Drug program, where I met with students who had violated the University’s policies to discuss their choices, the consequences, and how they could make better decisions in the future. During this time, I collaborated with public safety and developed programs to address community concerns. I also earned a Master’s in Counseling in 2021, furthering my skills in listening, understanding, and resolving complex issues.
I’ve always admired my grandfather, Robert Gardner, who served as the mayor of Wellsville for nearly 30 years. His leadership, grounded in fairness, community, and respect for others, deeply influenced my values and fueled my desire to get involved in local governance. I aim to carry these values into the role of Village Justice—treating everyone with dignity and ensuring that justice is delivered impartially.
My dedication to the Alfred community runs deep, and if elected, I will approach every case with fairness, thoughtfulness, and compassion. Beyond the courtroom, I am committed to fostering positive engagement and strengthening trust in our justice system.
Thank you for your consideration.
