The Alfred State archery team started the spring semester with a strong showing at the Easton Collegiate Trophy Tournament and Lancaster Classic (Lancaster, PA). The event is the largest competition in the Eastern United States and featured approximately 3,000 archers.

Brandon Stanton (Union Springs) highlighted the competition for the Pioneers with a fifth-place finish in the men’s open competition. He scored 637 points in the sixty-arrow competition.

Matt Stungis (Neversink, NY) finished twenty-first with a score of 572.

In the women’s collegiate bowhunter competition, Brianna Fagan (Spencerport, NY) finished fourteenth with a two-round score of 549.

Assistant Coach Travis Smith was proud of the performances of all the ASC archers but was particularly proud of the eighty-point improvement by Fagan from last year’s competition. “It is rewarding when the hard work put in by archers at practices pays off under the pressure of competing at tournaments.”

Alfred State Archery will be next in action at the USA Archery Indoor Nationals in Harrisonburg, VA (Feb. 21-23).
