Steuben County to Host Petition Training Class for Elected Office Candidates

Thinking about running for public office?

From Steuben County NY,

Steuben County will be offering a free training class for anyone running for or interested in running for an elected office in 2025. The training will take place on February 1, 2025, at 9:00 AM at the Steuben County Annex located at 20 E. Morris St., Bath, NY 14810 in the 2nd Floor Conference Room (elevator is available).

This class is open to all individuals considering a run for office and will cover essential topics such as:

• Political Calendar

• How to properly fill out a petition

• Who can sign and witness a petition

• The number of signatures required

• Filing deadlines

• Prima Facie review and petition challenges

• Who participates in the caucus and the caucus process

• Requesting voter lists

• Campaign filing requirements

• A list of all elected offices up for election this year

• Updates on the Even Year Law

This session is the only petition training class to be held in Steuben County for 2025. Whether you’re planning to run for office or want to learn more about the process, this class provides invaluable guidance for ensuring your petitions and campaign filings meet all necessary legal requirements.
