6:00PM Willing Town Hall 1431 State Rt 19 south, (Ackerman Hill), Wellsville
From Pat Gay, Town of Willing
The Town of Willing Planning Board would like to invite town residents and others interested in the future of the Town of Willing to the first of planned quarterly informal discussion sessions.
The Round Table discussions will be held in conjunction with our scheduled Planning Board meetings 4 times a year, starting this Monday at 6 PM.
The Willing planning board was formed early in 2020 initially to address the fast changing challenges of green energy development in rural New York.
The Planning Board developed a Comprehensive Plan for the town, and to start that project we surveyed our residents to see where their interests and needs lay.
Our resulting Comprehensive Plan was the recipient earlier this year of a state planning and development award. We are proud of that award but are moving into the next phase of that plan, and that is to begin to implement the goals we have set.
The survey showed us that the rural character of the town was overwhelmingly forefront in our residents’ interests, based on the four core themes of a rural, residential, agricultural and recreational identity for our town.
Our overall goal for the town is to maintain that character while improving economic, social and quality of living opportunities for all our residents in a broad and equitable manner.
Our Planning Board continues to research land use laws and advise the Town Council, but are also building greater involvement in planning activities that bring us closer to those goals, We recently sent another survey to our residents to find out what sort of activities they would like to see developed for the town.
Our Residents Round Table sessions will be a chance for residents to interact with the planning board, and have their visions and ideas heard and be empowered as part of the process. It is an opportunity to build community and work for the best future for our town.
We hope to see many of you there this Monday evening at 6 PM for conversation and refreshments.
