The Salvation Army of Wellsville will kick off its 2024 Red Kettle Campaign on World Kindness Day, Wednesday, November 13th. Director Emily Stothart launched the effort with the goal of raising $25,000 through the campaign. The annual fundraiser supports Salvation Army programs and services in Allegany County throughout the year.
“We are excited to kick off our Red Kettle season here in the Wellsville area,” said Emily Stothart. “We continue to see a great need in our community as men, women, and children look to The Salvation Army for assistance in their time of need.”
The Salvation Army of Wellsville provides assistance to more than 2,900 families and individuals a year through its food pantry and emergency assistance program, pastoral counseling, and Christmas and toy assistance. This includes over 86,000 meals a year through our year-round pantry packages.
“It is only through your generosity that we can respond to those in need through our services and programs,” Director Stothart said. “All funds raised stay local to make a difference right here in our community.”
Mrs. Stothart added that The Salvation Army of Wellsville is also in need of hundreds of volunteers to ring bells at Salvation Army Red Kettle locations throughout the community.
“By ringing the bell at a Red Kettle for two hours this holiday season, you are helping us feed a family of four for a week,” she said. “From ringing the bell to hosting an Angel Tree, there are many ways to make a difference.”
