Musical instruments, herbs, kale, and arugala!!

By Angela from Georgia,

Throughout the year, anyone can visit the Fassett Greenspace and play music on its giant musical instruments.

But, right now, it is the Greenspace, Wellsville’s Community Garden that beckons…

Herbs from the herb circle continue to flourish.

Dill explodes, Cilantro and thyme creep about, while the silver Curry plant stands tall and lemon Verbena, an annual, persists in thriving.

Heard of Arugula?

The peppery, spicy , strongly tasting salad green?!

Adored by Chefs, found on menus of high- end restaurants, often served with a Parmesan lemon dressing, ARUGULA is growing in massive abundance at our Greenspace!

Who knew?

How is it that Chefs and Connoisseurs have not descended by night to cut it all for feasting?

You might think the growing season is over at the Greenspace…

You’d be wrong!

To be sure, the sweet grapes that grew here in abundance are no more, along with white currents and unruly blackberries .

The multitudes of tomatoes, green and yellow squashes, peppers of differing shapes and heat, consumed, their roots pulled up.

But grab the remnants of precious Kale while you can, and, best of all, there are tall, trellised pea plants, with white flowers and sugar snap peas in abundance!

And while summer’s grand display of flowers is over, it is still possible to glimpse an orange marigold, a pink achillea or a spectacular snapdragon.
