Senator George Borrello and Assemblyman Joseph Giglio with candidate for Cattaraugus County Sheriff Eric Butler
From the Office of NY State Senator George Borrello,
Little Valley, NY – New York State Senator George Borrello announced that he has endorsed Eric Butler for Sheriff of Cattaraugus County. Butler has served in law enforcement roles for 27 years, including seven as the county’s undersheriff. He has been the Acting Sheriff since the retirement of former sheriff, Timothy Whitcomb.
“I am proud to endorse Eric Butler for Cattaraugus County Sheriff. With an impressive career that spans 27 years and includes leadership and achievements in diverse areas of law enforcement, he is the professional that I trust to lead our public safety efforts with vision, integrity and dedication.
“Acting Sheriff Butler also understands the challenges facing law enforcement organizations everywhere since the enactment of the radical criminal justice ‘reforms’ that took effect in 2020. Since then, cities and communities across New York, including Cattaraugus County, have been grappling with higher crime rates and a catch-and-release system that has made their jobs more difficult and dangerous.
“It has never been more important that we have experienced, proven leaders like Eric Butler at the helm of our law enforcement organizations, directing public safety efforts on the ground while working with law enforcement partners at every level of government to keep dangerous and persistent offenders off the streets. There is only one candidate in this race who is qualified and ready to hit the ground running on day one. That is Eric Butler, which is why he has my strongest support.”
Eric Butler is running on the Republican and Conservative lines.
