Wellsville School Board replacing member who is relocating
WELLSVILLE, N.Y. – Rex Olson, a long-time Wellsville Central School Board Education member, announced his resignation recently and it was officially accepted at the regular board meeting Tuesday. He is stepping down because he is moving out of the area.
Mr. Olson was first elected to the school board in 2005. After a two-year break from 2017 to 2019, he was re-elected and has been serving ever since.
“We would like to thank Mr. Olson for his many years of service to the district,” said board president Jason Mattison “We will miss his experience.”
Mr. Mattison said the board will appoint a replacement to fill Mr. Olson’s board seat. They have formed an interview committee to review candidates, and a recommendation will be made to the full board at the November meeting. This board seat will expire in June and will be up for vote during the May budget vote and board elections.
Residents interested in filling the position should email District Clerk Megan Burdick at MBurdick@wlsv.org indicating why they would be a good fit for the board and what they bring to the position. Applicants should apply by October 11th and include a good contact phone number.
