Allegany County District Attorney: Wirt NY man faces 12 charges including attempted murder of a police officer

Defendant’s Name:  Johnathan Russell

Address:  Wirt, New York       

Charges:      Attempted Murder 1st (3 counts); Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd;
Burglary 3rd; Criminal Mischief 4th; Robbery 2nd; Criminal Use of a Firearm 2nd; Menacing 2nd; Grand Larceny 4th; Resisting Arrest; Obstruction of Governmental Administration 2nd.

Court Appearance Date:  September 18, 2024

Proceedings:  Johnathan Russell has been indicted on 12 separate counts, including 3 top counts of Attempted Murder of a Police Officer.  Russell is accused of firing a gun at police as they attempted to apprehend him back on March 24th of this year.  It is alleged that Russell was able to evade police for a period of time and stole a truck and gunpoint before eventually being taken into custody.  Russell will be arraigned on the indictment in Allegany County Court on Tuesday, October 2nd
