From Doris MacFarquhar, Monday Club Secretary
The Monday Club of Wellsville heard about the work of the Allegany Cattaraugus Chautauqua Fund for Women when Melissa Jusianiec addressed their meeting Monday. As a founder, Melissa became concerned about area women’s poverty rates, and worked to establish the fund in 2017.
The ACCFFW works to promote sustained self-sufficiency, and has offered some $17,000 in grants to date. Workshops and sponsored events help them reach out to women in need in the three-county region , with support by women, for women. In 2023 the ACCFFW gained 501(c)(3) status. Its guiding principles include good stewardship, equity, diversity, and self-determination. Their work helps women achieve financial security and independence. It is a component of the Cattaraugus Region Community Foundation.
