Two major projects: Middaugh Hill and Karr Valley are planned for 2026

Public Open House for Replacement of the Middaugh Hill Culvert over Tributary to Gordon Brook Project
The County of Allegany DPW invites you to a public open house for the Middaugh Hill Rd Project on Tuesday, September 17th, 2024, from 5:00 PM – 6:30 PM at the Town of Scio Community Hall, 4355 Vandermark Rd, Scio, NY.
The purpose of the meeting is to provide an opportunity for interested individuals to become acquainted with the project and express comments to Allegany County staff and the project team. There will be a short presentation, after which feel free to review the exhibits provided and to ask questions of the staff.
The purpose of the project is to replace the existing Middaugh Hill Road Culvert over Gordon Brook Tributary located in the Town of Scio. The work limits will extend approximately 300 feet along Middaugh Hill Road. Project work would generally include removal of the existing concrete box culvert, soldier pile and sheeting wingwalls, and steel beam headwalls. The new construction will feature a precast concrete 4-sided box culvert with a natural bottom and precast wingwalls. A limited amount of full-depth roadway reconstruction will be performed at each end of the culvert to tie the new culvert into the existing roadway along with new guide rail, signing, and striping. Construction is expected to take place during the summer of 2026.

The County of Allegany DPW invites you to a public open house for the Karr Valley Rd Project on Tuesday, September 24th, 2024, from 5:00 PM – 6:30 PM at the Town of Almond Community Hall, 1 Marvin Lane, Almond, NY.
The purpose of the meeting is to provide an opportunity for interested individuals to become acquainted with the project and express comments to Allegany County staff and the project team. There will be a short presentation, after which feel free to review the exhibits provided and to ask questions of the staff.
The purpose of the project is to replace the existing Karr Valley Road Culvert over Karr Valley Creek located in the Town of West Almond. The work limits will extend approximately 300 feet along Karr Valley Road. Project work would generally include removal of the existing steel pipe culvert, soldier pile and sheeting wingwalls, and concrete headwalls. The new construction will feature a precast concrete 4-sided box culvert with a natural bottom and precast wingwalls. A limited amount of full-depth roadway reconstruction will be performed at each end of the culvert to tie the new culvert into the existing roadway along with new guide rail, signing, and striping. Construction is expected to take place during the summer of 2026.
Affected business owners, residents, and the general public are invited to attend and review displays regarding the project during the open house. Representatives from Allegany County DPW and the project design team will be available to answer questions and discuss the proposed work. For those interested, there will be a brief presentation describing the project at 5:00 PM.
