Officer wellness has been a theme of Allegany County Sheriff Scott Cicirello since before he was elected. As a former state police officer and from a family of first responders, Cicirello understands the extra burden carried by police, firefighters, EMT/Rescue, District Attorney’s, and military veterans. In 2023 Sheriff Cicirello had this to say as he announced The Officer Wellness Program:

“After 30 years, I realized, when it came to (mental health from a traumatic incident) we weren’t caring about ourselves or our fellow officers,” Cicirello said. “Wellness to me, is a concept. Honestly, five or six years ago I wouldn’t be standing up here. But today it’s something I care about and something I am passionate about.”

A major part of that wellness push is holding regular gatherings to express appreciation for the work of all military and first responders. The upcoming gathering in Belmont will be a day for those who work on the front lines of tragedy and emergency situations.

There will be a “blind” cornhole tournament! You never know who you’ll get as a partner! Maybe the Sheriff himself!

The kids will have lots to do with face painting, a bounce house, and a dunk tank.

Food will be plentiful and the best local live music possible. Adam Stack and Anton Flint will start the afternoon off before the “DJ Amateurs” get the crowd warmed up for fan favorite “ZOAR.”

This event is free to all those who serve, from miltary veterans, active duty, police, fire, EMT, law enforcement at any level. This is a day to show thanks for the service and enjoy the first responder community.

Please be sure to bring an ID with you to get in the doors and properly represent your department or branch of service.
