Belmont community comes together after electric pole downed in accident, UPDATED

About 500 residents were without power after crash

  Much thanks go to all,  for their dedication to the town, keeping everyone safe and for their time.

   At shortly after 2:00 pm on September 4th a roll-off truck hit an electric pole. Snapping the pole and bringing down power lines across the road. The accident occurred on Co. Rd 48/Trianna St. Belmont NY. Thankfully the driver was not injured.

Allegany County officials have confirmed that the vehicle was a Solid Waste Department truck.

  Residents who witnessed the accident immediately called 911. The Genesee Valley Central School was informed. Buses would have to take an alternative route. 

  The community came together and worked together. Residents directed traffic until volunteer firefighters, town workers, and the police could arrive and create a safe environment for everybody

*Residents have been told that power will be restored 11pm, 9/4/2024.
