New scholarship will help educate future Alfred State College grads

From ACAF

The Allegany County Area Foundation (ACAF) is pleased to announce the establishment of the Haggstrom Family Scholarship. Created by David and Leslie Haggstrom of Angelica, this endowed fund will provide a scholarship to support a Genessee Valley Central School (GVCS) graduate pursuing a nursing or trade program at Alfred State College.

Leslie serves on the ACAF Board of Directors. David is the former Library Director of Hinkle Memorial Library at Alfred State College. All three of their children and a granddaughter attend(ed) Alfred State.

Priority is given to students with financial need.

The initial Haggstrom Family Scholarship will be awarded next spring for the 2025-2026 college year. Applicants showing financial need will be prioritized. GVCS seniors and graduates may apply through the regular ACAF online process, which opens up around November 1.

The Allegany County Area Foundation holds and manages 93 grant and scholarship funds that support local students and charities. To contribute to this scholarship or for information about establishing a grant or scholarship fund, contact Bruce Campbell at the Allegany County Area Foundation at director@acafny.org or 585-296-5616.
