State Troopers are embeded with construction crews to keep them safe with speed enforcement
From the NYS Police,
Imagine your family member is working in a construction zone along a major highway, the two-lane road is now one lane and the speed limit is reduced to 55 mph. Your family member is focused on their job. Now imagine someone comes through the work zone at 92 mph with your loved one right there. That’s exactly what one driver was ticketed for at an Operation Hard Hat detail along State Highway 17 east between exits 78 and 79 in Windsor. That may have been the fastest speed we observed but 57 other motorists were also ticketed for speeding through the active work zone. In just over four hours, a total of 75 tickets were issued to motorists.
Pay attention to signage, be alert, patient and put down those cellphones. Please be mindful of crews working along the roadways, they deserve to go home to their families at the end of the day!
