OLEAN, N.Y. – Today, Congressman Nick Langworthy (NY-23) proudly hosted 75 Vietnam Veterans from Cattaraugus and Allegany Counties for a 50th Anniversary Vietnam-Era Veteran Pinning Ceremony. This event was held at the Jamestown Community College Cutco Theater in partnership with the United States of America Vietnam War Commemoration to honor local veterans for their service and sacrifice.
“It was my honor to host a pinning ceremony to thank our brave Vietnam-era veterans from Cattaraugus and Allegany Counties for their service and sacrifice,” said Congressman Langworthy. “Thank you to all who came out to give these heroes the ‘welcome home’ they deserve. Their patriotism and dedication to our nation are a powerful reminder of the courage it takes to defend our freedoms and a model for future generations.”
The Congressman was joined in honoring these veterans by local supporters and local officials, including New York State Senator George Borello, Assemblyman Joe Giglio, and City of Olean Mayor Bill Aiello, as well as Allegany County Clerk Rob Christman as emcee.
The 2008 National Defense Authorization Act established the U.S. Vietnam War Commemoration to honor living U.S. veterans who served on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces at any time during the period of November 1, 1955, to May 15, 1975, regardless of where they were stationed.
