...FLASH FLOOD EMERGENCY FOR WHITESVILLE AND ANDOVER...

The National Weather Service in Buffalo has extended the

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Southeastern Allegany County in western New York...

* Until 515 PM EDT.

* At 1239 PM EDT, emergency management reported water rescues within
  the heavy rain across the warned area. Between 4 and 4.5 inches of
  rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are
  possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected
  to begin shortly.

  This is a FLASH FLOOD EMERGENCY for Whitesville and Andover. This
  is a PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. SEEK HIGHER GROUND NOW!

  HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Heavy rain producing
           flash flooding.

  SOURCE...Emergency management reported.

  IMPACT...This is a PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. SEEK
           HIGHER GROUND NOW! Life threatening flash flooding of
           low water crossings, small creeks and streams, urban
           areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Alfred, Whitesville, Andover, Almond, Stannards and Paynesville.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Move to higher ground now! This is an extremely dangerous and
life-threatening situation. Do not attempt to travel unless you are
fleeing an area subject to flooding or under an evacuation order.

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Flooding is occurring or is imminent. It is important to know where
you are relative to streams, rivers, or creeks which can become
killers in heavy rains. Campers and hikers should avoid streams or
creeks.
