Due to scheduling conflicts this event has been postponed for a date later in the year.
The Belfast Public Library is excited to announce “Boxing for Books,” in collaboration with the Bare Knuckle Boxing Hall of Fame. Scheduled for July 19th at 6:00 PM at St. Patrick’s Hall, 31 East Hughes Street, Belfast, this event will be a fun night out for all who attend.
Highlighting the event is the legendary performance titled “Life is a Fight,” featuring Brendan Heaney as John L. Sullivan. Heaney’s portrayal transports the audience back to the era of bare-knuckle boxing, offering a glimpse into the life and times of the sport’s most iconic personalities.
Guests will also enjoy live music by the talented Jack Castle. Complimentary appetizers, desserts, and a cash bar will be available.
Tickets for the event are $25.00 each, with proceeds benefiting the Belfast Public Library to support the library’s “Building a Better Belfast, Brick by Book” Capital Project.
“Brendan last performed this show in Belfast seven years ago and it was very popular,” said Patty Preston, Belfast Public Library board member. “We decided to transport John L. Sullivan back to Belfast for the Bicentennial and we are excited to present his show along with Jack Castle’s music for a great evening. Both are volunteering their time and talents to the event and we are grateful for their support!”
Tickets can be purchased via Zeffy at https://bit.ly/BoxingForBooks or at the library (585-365-2072).
