Information from local Dog Control Officers (DCO)
Two dogs have been saved from being put to sleep at overcrowded animal shelters.
After a story in the Wellsville and Hornell Sun, two dogs, a Husky and a Pit Mix, were adopted.
It should be noted, when a dog is able to go to the SPCA Serving Allegany County, that is a no-kill shelter. The dogs at other facilities can not receive that kind of around-the-clock care.
Today, two other dogs are in danger of being put to sleep as the owner has died and they were left with no where to go. Adoption is free and the DCO’s will work with whoever is adopting and rabies shots and getting the dogs fixed.
They are hoping to adopt these two dogs together if possible, but would let them go to different families. Contact the Dog Control Officer in Cuba at 716-307-2208.
