Wellsville duo and Arkport film team take home awards
From the Southern Tier Film Festival,
The Fifth Annual Southern Tier Film Festival, held at Fillmore Central School last night, was a huge success. Thirty-three student films from Arkport, Fillmore, Perry, and Wellsville captivated the audience all evening.
Fillmore’s Ava Harrison earned two awards: Best Art Design for her film “The Applicant” and the Best in Show, aka the STAFFY award, for her film “Snow Day.” The STAFFY award recipient takes home the massive trophy to be displayed at the winning school district until next year’s film festival.
Wellsville’s Brooklyn Dahlgren and Madelyn Muurisepp were awarded the Best Cinematography award for their film “Pretty Isn’t Pretty.”
Arkport’s Kaitlynn Adams, Salim Ford, Alivia Kocan, Paige Pfaff, and Hope Troutman were awarded Best Editing for their film “The Spiral Staircase.”
Fillmore’s Jenna Heaney was awarded Best Performance for her role in her films “To Dance” and “La La Land Mimic.”
Arkport’s Paige Pfaff was awarded Most Unique for the film “Smashing Pumpkins.”
Molly O’Dea of Arkport won the Most Impactful Film for “Pocket-size feminism.”
The evening sponsors would like to give special thanks to David Bruce and Sunshine Sullivan, who provided the inspiration for many of the projects showcased at the film festival. Another huge shout-out to Brendan Heaney and Fillmore Central School for hosting the event.
