Maryann Coleman Lang, 70, passed away quietly on Saturday (April 6, 2024) at St. James Hospital in Hornellsville with her loving husband by her side.
Mrs. Lang was born on October 20, 1953 in Hornell to Stewart Thomas and Leah (Skillman) Coleman. She was a 1971 graduate of Canisteo Central School. On May 30, 1984 in Natick, Mass., she married the love of her life, Donald I. Lang who survives.
Maryann was a medical secretary, and retired in 2010. Throughout her career, she worked for Dr. Byron Collins in Hornell, Dr. George Wartley in Alfred, St. James Hospital and Jones Memorial Hospital.
Along with her husband of 39 years, Maryann is survived by her step daughters, Melynda (Jason) Strawser of Orange and Megan Lang of West Seneca; one grandson, Mason Strawser; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; three nieces; many cousins and her dear friend, Denny Heckel.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Timothy Coleman.
Maryann was a loving wife and mother. She delighted in knitting items such as sweaters and blankets for special gifts and to just give away to loved ones. She enjoyed watching television shows, especially Grey’s Anatomy and Quincy. She also maintained a close relationship with her dear girlfriends from her younger days, traveling often to Massachusetts to reconnect or getting together with them in North Carolina on a regular basis.
Maryann and Don spent many hours making memories together while building their house on Kenyon Road. Together, they spent many wonderful days on their sailboat sailing Keuka Lake and Cuba Lake. Don became a faithful and devoted caregiver during Maryann’s illness. He visited her at Updyke’s Willow Ridge Care Facility in Hornell every day for the past five years.
Visitation will be held on Saturday (April 20, 2024) from 1-4 p.m. at Baker-Swan Funeral Home in Andover. A private graveside service will be held at a later time.
