Wellsville Police and Wellsville Schools provide updates
*******UPDATE****** SUBJECT IS IN CUSTODY AS OF 0740 HOURS
The Wellsville Police Department is currently handling an incident on West State Street. This is an isolated incident specific to this area. If you are in the West State Street/Pleasant Street/Highland Avenue/Pine Street area, you should remain in your home. All other operations and business’s should open and run as normal. The Wellsville Central School District made the decision to close the school due to the proximity of the incident to the High School. The Wellsville Police Department has the subject located in a specific residence on West State Street, there is NOT a man running around the Village with a weapon as it has been reported previously on this platform. We will make an update to this post as we get more information.
| We have been notified by police that the incident near the Secondary School has been resolved. Both schools and the afternoon YMCA program will remain closed for today. Optional Varsity and JV practices may continue after 3 pm as well as OM and Play practice may continue as scheduled. |
