Tanker trucks called to assist with 9 alarm fire

Hornell area firefighters are contending with a large structure fire that many have called a total loss.

Steuben County Fire Wire posted this at about 7pm:

“North Hornell Fire, Arkport Fire, Car 92: for the report of a fully involved structure fire on North main Street Extention. Confirmed fully involved by Hornell City Engine 83. Chief 27 asking for a 9th alarm for tankers”

Sue Hanscome “Praying for our neighbors,they have lost everything.”

The popular emergency response page Southtown Scanners had this to report:

“Well, this is a new one for us…

Firefighters from multiple counties are on the scene of a working residential fire in the 7300 block of North Main Street Extension in North Hornell, in Steuben County (central New York).

Command has requested the 9th alarm. Every available tanker is being requested. They’re pulling tankers from Allegany County (and probably other counties) now.
