Allegany County Wind Event update

“Public Safety is our primary concern.  Please check on your friends and neighbors”

From Allegany County Chairman W. Brooke Harris,

Allegany County has been experiencing a severe wind event, and an advisory remains in effect.  Several towns are still without power due to downed transmission lines.  Fire halls in the towns of Bolivar, Clarksville, Friendship, and Richburg are open and residents are encouraged to take advantage of their services especially for warming and charging stations.

Our Emergency Services officials have been monitoring the outages and conditions and are keeping County Administration apprised of all issues.  Fire and EMS personnel have been assisting communities by checking on vulnerable citizens as notified.  They have been doing a great job, and we have been in contact with them throughout the night.

Fire and EMS personnel have been taking care of obstructions and trees in the roads and have also been in contact with town sewer and water plants to stay informed of their status.

Updated information is being placed on our Office of Emergency Management Facebook page (https: www.facebook.com/AlleganyCountyOEM) to update citizens on the status of outages.

Public Safety is our primary concern.  Please check on your friends and neighbors especially those who may be more vulnerable.  If you are on oxygen and running low, please contact your distributors as they are now open.  If you have an emergency, please call 911.
