“.. We will always be grateful”

From the family of Mr. Dawson,

The family of Wilbur James “Cy” Dawson would like to express its profound gratitude for the life Cy was blessed to live in the Manor Hills Assisted Living Special Care Unit.  Caring for individuals with various forms of dementia twenty-four hours a day seven days a week is a daunting task.  We found that throughout his residence in the special care unit Cy was loved and cared for like a family member. We never feared for his safety or his personal needs as we witnessed on a daily basis that both were primary concerns for the staff.

As his Alzheimer’s took its toll on him Cy was treated with patience, compassion  and respect. Consistent communication between the staff and our family during his stay in the special care unit ensured that his personal and medical needs were made known to us. It was this ever important communication that allowed us to be present as Cy’s life journey came to an end.

As our life journeys continue we know that we did what we could to make Cy’s life the best it could be while he lived in his own home.  As the time finally came for more intensive caregiving we were thankfully able to place him in the Manor Hills Assisted Living Special Care Unit in Wellsville, NY, where we were able to visit Cy frequently and always felt welcome.   Our family could see that he felt very happy and truly loved. For this, we will always be grateful.
