Alan W. Rix, 61, passed away Saturday, December 2, 2023, following a long illness. He was born November 10, 1962, in Wellsville, the son of Walter G. and Linda L. (Jackson) Rix.

Al was a 1980 graduate of Scio Central School. After high school he enlisted with the United States Marine Corps, serving from 1983 to 1984, and was stationed at Seal Beach, California. After his discharge he returned to Allegany County and was employed by a variety of companies, including Otis Eastern of Wellsville, Syrstone of Syracuse, and Puff, Inc. of Amherst, VA. Al spent over 20 years in Gladstone, VA before returning home to spend his remaining years in Wellsville. Al enjoyed riding motorcycles and spending time outdoors.

In addition to his mother Linda, he is survived by two daughters, Rachel Rix and Maegan Rix, both of Wellsville, a granddaughter, Madison “Maddi” Hall; a grandson, Jaxson Spears; six siblings, Walter (Ellen) Rix, Sophia Merry, Jeff (Stacey) Rix, Dena (Jim) Helms, Trina Babbit, all of Wellsville, and Tracy Perkins of Scio; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his father Walter, he was predeceased by a brother, Cecil D. Rix, and his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Friends are invited to a Graveside Service on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at 11:00 am at Knights Creek Cemetery, 2987 County Road 9, in Scio, NY. Please consider memorial donations to: Vietnam Camp, c/o Tom Carlin, 7256 County Road 20, Friendship, NY 14739.
