Rallying Community Support to Spread Holiday Cheer to Allegany County Children for Almost Two Decades

Belmont, NY, November 8, 2023 — Community Action Angels, an initiative of ACCORD Corporation in Allegany County are thrilled to announce the commencement of their annual holiday gift program, a heartwarming initiative designed to bring joy and comfort to children in need during the festive season. The December 2022 campaign brightened the holidays for 190 children. Additionally, the program was able to share resources with two other organizations that serve children within Allegany County. Community Action Angels are determined to continue this tradition in 2023, maintaining the legacy that began in 2004.

Community Action Angels understand that many individuals and families are facing financial challenges, with increasing household costs, and are profoundly grateful for any support the community can offer. Whether it’s a monetary donation, gift cards, new unwrapped toys, new clothing, or the precious gift of your time through volunteering, every contribution, no matter how small, has the power to make a significant impact.

To make this initiative a success, we need many helping hands during November and December. Volunteers play a critical role in reaching out to families, collecting gifts, sorting items, and ensuring the smooth distribution of holiday cheer. Together, the community can bring hope and happiness to those in need during this special time of year.

Families looking for support this holiday season can apply at www.accordcorp.org/holiday until December 5th. Eligibility is assessed based on a completed application with proof of current income for all household members. Applications are processed on a first-come, first-serve basis. Families will be referred to local town and/or school programs, if available. For information on available programs, refer to the Holiday Programs Resource Guide on ACCORD’s website.

Those interested in donating, or volunteering, should contact Kerri Potter, Emergency Enrollment and Services Manager, at 585-268-7605, ext. 1242. Donations are also welcomed at the ACCESS Center, located at 84 Schuyler Street, Belmont, NY 14813, from Monday to Friday, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Monetary donations or gift cards can also be sent to the following address:
