Audience participation is part of the show! So come to the show “in costume”
Don’t miss this cult classic in the Nancy Howe Auditorium
The David A. Howe Public Library will show a cult classic movie musical on November 10, 2023, at 8 p.m. in the Nancy Howe Auditorium. The library’s film license prevents us from sharing the title of the film but you can check it out on their website: https://davidahowelibrary.org/auditorium/upcoming-programs/.
This musical debuted in the early seventies with a planned run of 5 weeks at a theatre in London’s West End. However, fans turned attending the show into a happening and it went on to run continuously for 7 years. Its swift success led to a film adaptation that is still shown regularly around the world. Attendees don costumes, tote props, and participate in quoting along with the dialogue and call-and-response reactions to what’s happening on screen.
“Library staff have wanted to show this film for years but it wasn’t until March 2023 that it was allowed by our film license. It’s so exciting to be able to enjoy this incredible show that has stood the test of time and to invite our community into a participatory event that unites us with its fans around the globe,” said Kate Elliott, Public Programming and Exhibits Curator.
The library welcomes – no, encourages – costumes, props, and participation! They do ask, however, that attendees refrain from bringing water guns.
