William H. Slater, formerly of Wellsville

Sloan, NY – William H. Slater, 56, of Griffith Street, passed away on October 12, 2023, at Buffalo General Hospital after experiencing chronic health problems. He was born February 16, 1967, in Erie, PA, the son of the late Larry and Betty (Riley) Slater. In 2016 he found his life partner, Kimberly Schopf, who survives.

Bill was a previous resident of Wellsville, NY, Uniontown, PA, and currently resided in Sloan, NY. He was a past member of the Dyke Street Engine Company. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, cooking, motorcycles, and family dinners. He was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and was an enthusiastic tattoo collector. He made people laugh and would talk to anybody; he made daily calls to his family and closest friends.

He is survived by: four children, Billy Slater, Zach Slater, Kyle Slater, and Damian Dimpfl “Slater”; three grandchildren; siblings, Angel Larson and David (Rose) Slater; dear friends, Paul Golish, John Golish, Jack (Eunice) Nary, Scott Reed, Randy Fauchet, and Victor Henrick; as well as several nieces and nephews, especially, Brianna Slater, Heidi Slater, and Kalvin Slater. He was predeceased by his parents, Larry Slater and Betty Baldwin, and brother, Christopher Slater.

Friends are invited to call on Sunday, November 5, 2023, from 12 noon to 4 pm at the Wellsville Fire Department, 40 South Main Street, Wellsville, NY.
