Dale E. Nickerson, 94, of 5086 Pine Rd. passed away in Wellsville October 8th, 2023 at The Wellsville Hart House following a lengthy illness.
Born June 11, 1929; he was the son of Earl E. and Hazel Farnham Nickerson. Dale had resided in Friendship all of his life and had been a graduate of Friendship Central School, class of 1947. On March 10, 1951 in Belmont, he married the former Rayveria “Jean” Abbott who predeceased him on August 25, 1999.
Dale, Lifetime dairy farmer, who worked The Nickerson Farm in his later years with his son Gary. At 91 years old still was able to chop corn and mow hay and that’s where he wanted to be.
Dale also trained and raced harness horses for many years at Batavia Downs and Buffalo raceway along with many fairs across NY state. He was an active member of the United State Trotting association and WNY harness horse association.
Dale attended many actions in Ohio along with NY state. He could always be found attending horse pulls and frequent conversations about how he used horses on the farm in his younger days.
Dale is survived by five children; Jan (Darrell) Aylor, Lorna (Gary) Ripple, Michele (Jack) Skinner, Gary (Ann) Nickerson, Jeff (Mindy) Nickerson along with several grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Dale was predeceased by a granddaughter Kimblery, great grandson Darren.
There will be no visitation and a private service will be held for the family at the Treusdell Funeral Home, Friendship Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Friendship.
