Burglary in progress busted; violent domestic in Houghton sends victim to Jones Memorial

A pursuit involving both Bolivar police and state troopers early Monday ended with two men facing multiple charges. It started when 911 received a call of a burglary in progress on Main Street in Richburg. Bolivar police led the on and off chase that finally ended in the town of Scio with multiple troopers assisting.

Taken into custody were Joseph A. Anderson, 35, of Buffalo and 37-year-old Charles Buchholz of New York, although his exact address was not listed. Anderson was charged with felony residential burglary, criminal possession of stolen property, obstruction, four counts of resisting arrest and criminal possession of a controlled substance. As for Buchholz, he is charged with criminal facilitation, obstruction and criminal possession of stolen property.

While troopers are dealing with that, more troopers raced to Rushford for a violent domestic dispute. State Police arrested Christopher R. Ruehl, 40, of Houghton. He was charged with felony second-degree strangulation, assault, unlawful imprisonment, and preventing an emergency call. The female victim was rushed to Jones Memorial Hospital and the suspect detained.
