V-Ry: The Bills May Have a Problem at Middle Linebacker, aka, MLB

When will Terrel Bernard return ?

With just one preseason game remaining it appears the Bills have a problem at middle linebacker (MLB). The loss of Tremaine Edmunds has been obvious so far this offseason. The Steelers really exposed the Bills’ deficiency at the MLB position.

Tyrel Dodson started at MLB against the Steelers and left a lot to be desired. Dodson was on the field well into the fourth quarter, which doesn’t bode well for his chances of even making the team. On one play early in the game Dodson was way out of position after over pursuing the ball carrier leading to a 60-yard touchdown run.

Terrel Bernard is currently penciled in as the starter at MLB, but he’s been out with an injury and hasn’t played or practiced this preseason. In my opinion, the team should cut Tyrel Dodson and run with AJ Klein until Terrel Bernard returns. Klein is a physical veteran who is familiar with the Bills’ defensive scheme. I would also cut Tyler Metakevich in favor of Baylon Spector. Perhaps a rotation is the way to go at MLB this season?
