Darlene K. Caschera, 82, Wellsville

Wellsville, NY – Darlene K. Caschera, 82, of Stevens Street, passed away on Thursday, August 17, 2023, at the Hart Comfort House surrounded by her family. She was born on May 13, 1941, in Warren, PA, the daughter of the late John and Pearl (Shepard) Childress. On June 10, 1960, in Wellsville, she married her husband of 63 years, Thomas Caschera, who survives.

Darlene was a life-long resident of Wellsville. After graduating from Wellsville High School, she was employed by Air Pre Heater of Wellsville, and along with her husband, owned and operated Pit Stop Tavern. She discovered her career as a Teacher’s Aide for Wellsville Central Schools, from where she retired. Outside of work she was a past member of the Wellsville Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary and was currently an active member of the Wellsville Elks Lodge #1495, where she helped greatly with bereavement dinners and special events. Family was very important to her, especially cooking for family dinners. She also enjoyed weekly Wednesday Night Dinners with friends, bean bag tournaments, NASCAR, and Lifetime Movies.

In addition to her husband Tom, she is survived by: three sons, Kevin (Holly Burger) Caschera of Wellsville, Steve (Diana) Caschera of Oregon, and Kris (Lori) Caschera of Arizona; 10 grandchildren, Tom (Maureen) Caschera, Kyle Caschera, Anothony Caschera, Marc (Melene) Caschera, Adrianna Caschera, Jessica (Mike) Alverez, Teresa (Jesse) Woodall, Angie (Derek Bright) Caschera, Jake Caschera, and Chase (Tiffany) Ashley; 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Arlene Lehman; two brothers-in-law, Joe Caschera, and Mike Caschera; and several nieces, nephews, cousins (including Bill and Nancy Bostley), and very close friends, such as Barb, Lisa, Kathy, and Suzanne. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by: two sisters and their husbands, Marlene (Pat) Padden, and Sharlene (Moose) Burdick; brother-in-law, Terry Lehman; and sister-in-law, Ann Caschera.

Friends are invited to call on Friday, August 25, 2023, from 11 am to 2 pm at the J.W. Embers Sons Funeral Home of Wellsville, 34 West State Street. Her funeral service will follow immediately at 2 pm in the funeral home. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery of Wellsville.
