Michael J. Osterhout, 71, Caneadea

Michael J. Osterhout of 6544 E Hill Road and a resident of Rochester passed away on Saturday, July 22, 2023 in his Caneadea home. He was born on October 26, 1951 in Wellsville, a son of the late Henry and Elizabeth McManus Osterhout. In 1987 in Rushford he married Diane Smith who survives.

Mike was a former skilled machinist for Dresser-Rand in Olean and a former carpenter for Local 276 in Olean. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and golf cart as well as tinkering with his backhoe and bulldozer but most of all he loved his family, especially his grandchildren.

Surviving in addition to his wife are their sons, Duane (Barbara Becht) Smith of Caneadea, Patrick (Julie) McCarthy of Caneadea, six grandchildren, Brooke Learn, Morgan McCarthy, Drew Ann Smith, Blaize Michael Osterhout, Logan McCarthy, Shylee Ann McCarthy, six great-grandchildren, a brother, Thomas (Jean) Osterhout of Brockton and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a daughter, Chantelle Lee Osterhout, a brother, John Osterhout, two sisters, Ellen Middaugh and Margaret “Peggy” Osterhout.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Kopler-Williams Funeral Home, 21 N Genesee Street, Fillmore.
