Eat overlooking the Genesee River on the iconic terrace

Let’s Do Lunch – Tuesdays on the Terrace will return to the David A. Howe Public Library this summer. Beginning Tuesday, July 18 residents will have the opportunity enjoy lunches served by several Wellsville and Allegany County restaurants. Simple “box lunch” meals will be sold between the hours of 11:30 am and 1:30 pm on the library’s South Terrace, which overlooks the Genesee River and Alma Hill.

Each Tuesday, the menu and pricing is different due to the fact a different restaurant or caterer will serve. The library provides menus one week prior to each Tuesday on its website, at the front Service Desk, and on the library’s Facebook page. Residents can also call the library for information about this summer’s program.

The library’s South Terrace features umbrella tables and seating that allow library patrons to eat, read, gather or access wireless Internet.  A large central planting bed and several smaller perimeter planters provide a great ambience for eating and relaxing. The picturesque backdrop of the foothills surrounding Wellsville makes the terrace a unique experience.  And, the terrace is open to patrons whenever the library is open. A perfect spot to read a book on a summer afternoon!

Tuesdays on the Terrace is not a library fund-raiser. It is an opportunity for local businesses to showcase their culinary talents, and encourage community members to visit Wellsville’s historic downtown district and the library. With the exception of 2020, this program has been offered to the community every summer since 2011.  And remains one of our most popular programs. The average number of lunches served each Tuesday tops over 100 within the two hours. In the event of rain, restaurants still serve on their scheduled date on the library’s Main Floor.

This year’s program will run July 18th – August 15th. Local restaurants and caterers include, Nacho Mama’s, Chelsea’s Catering, Mike’s on the Corner, Dawny Jeans, and Holycakes.

For more information, residents may call the library at (585) 593-3410, visit the library online at www.davidahowelibrary.org, or email wellsville@stls.org. For restaurants interesting in participating in this yearly program, please contact Niki Gordon at wellsville@stls.org.

The library may also be found online using Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. The David A. Howe Public Library is located at 155 North Main Street in Wellsville.
