Allegany County Fireman’s Convention comes to Wellsville July 12-15

The Wellsville Fire Department will be hosting the 107thAllegany County Fireman’s Convention here in Wellsville on July 12th, 13th, 14th, and 15th.  The Convention kicks off Wednesday July 12th with the business meeting being held at the Wellsville High School at 126 West State Street.

Thursday July 13th will feature firefighter competitions. The events will be held in front of Fire Headquarters at 40 South Main Street. Competitions will consist of the Midnight Alarm, and Bucket Brigade. Registration for the competitions will start at 5pm, and the games will start at 6pm. Firefighters will have the road closed down in front of the fire station and the ambulance bay for the competitions. Firefighters from any department in Allegany County are welcome to come participate. The events are also open for the public to come and watch. The Fire Department will have food and drinks, along with convention shirts for sale.

Friday July 14th the fire department will be hosting “nozzle practice” which used to be known as water fights. The event will also be in front of Fire Headquarters on South Main Street. Registration will start at 5pm, captains meeting at 5:45, and event will start at 6pm. Firefighters will have the road closed in front of the fire station and the ambulance bay for the event. Firefighters from all different departments in Allegany County are welcome to come participate. The event is open for the public to come, watch, and support your local departments. The Fire Department will have food and drinks along with convention shirts for sale. There will be a live band to play music after the event by Dave Shields, and crew until midnight.

Saturday July 15th the morning will start with the Truck Driving Competition “Truck Rodeo” will take place at the Wellsville Business Park parking lot (Old Dresser Rand) at 37 Coats Street.  Departments participating need to bring a apparatus from their own department for the event. Registration will start at 8am, and the event will start at 9am. Equipment judging for the parade will begin at 3pm sharp at the Wellsville Elementary School at 98 School Street. Line up for the parade will start at 6pm on Loder Street. The Grand Parade will start at 7pm sharp and go south down Main Street, and will end at East Dyke Street. After the parade, the street will be closed in front of the Main Street fire station for live music by Off the Wagon, and awards will follow. The live music will go until midnight.
