Alco Federal Credit Union Awards three local graduates annual scholarship

Haley Mascho, Hunter Hill, and Zach Luce get a little help for their next step

From Alco Federal Credit Union,

Each year Alco Federal Credit Union invests in the future of the communities it serves by awarding scholarships to local high school seniors to help finance their college education. A $500 scholarship was awarded this year to Haley Mascho from Bolivar Richburg Central School, Hunter Hill from Friendship Central School, and Zach Luce from Allegany Limestone High School.

Haley

Haley will be attending Keuka College in the fall and plans on studying to become an occupational therapist. Haley has been a leader through her high school career, serving as captain of her varsity volleyball and varsity softball teams. She’s also coached a youth volleyball camp through her school and played on two travel sports teams; Diamond Dawgs Travel Softball and Octane Travel Volleyball Club. Haley isn’t only successful in sports. She was the Valedictorian of her Class of 2023. She is a decorated student, winning the Principal Scholar Award, Superintendent’s Award, Clarkson Leadership Award, Alfred University Top Scholar Award, and Elmira Key Award.  

Hunter

Hunter plans on working towards becoming a history teacher. His journey to that end will begin at Alfred State College this fall. Hunter has shown his leadership skills by being Editor for the school yearbook, Captain of the Varsity Baseball team, and Boy’s State County Legislator. Hunter worked hard has a three-sport athlete to maintain his standing on the Honor Roll. He also worked at Fox’s Pizza Den. Hunter won the Scholar Athlete Award and was a member of the National Junior Honor Society.  

Zach

Zach will be attending SUNY Fredonia in pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in finance and would like to continue on after to get an MBA. Zach was very involved with soccer. He was the team captain of his varsity soccer team. He was a 1st Team All Star and played on the NY Corporate Cup All Star Team. He also works as a soccer ref. He also worked at Tasta Pizza and was a Ski Instructor for Holiday Valley. Zach was on the High Honor Roll, was an All WNY Scholar Athlete and was a member of the National Junior Honors Society. He was also active with his church youth group and a leader in his Investment Club. 

Congratulations to Haley, Hunter and Zach for joining the long list of past winners of the John Patterson Memorial Scholarship. Mr. Patterson served for 32 years as Treasurer of Alco Federal Credit Union and was a vital piece in leading the Credit Union to where it is today.

This scholarship is available to any member of Alco Federal Credit Union that is graduating high school and has been a member for at least one year prior to applying. More information including an application form can be found on our website at www.alcofcu.com. The application is under the Forms drop-down button. The application deadline is March 31st of your graduating year.
