Baseball team to host AMCC Championships

The Pioneers will host the AMCC Tournament, May 11-13.

The Alfred State baseball team has earned the right to host the 2023 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) for the first time in program history. The tournament begins on May 11.

The Pioneers will host the double-elimination tournament after finishing the regular season with a 12-2 record in AMCC play. Nick Serce (Irondequoit) has led the offense with a .408 batting average and has an AMCC record 18 homeruns. He leads the conference with a .904 slugging percentage to go along with 43 RBI and 45 runs scored. Sam Dickerson (Cutchogue, NY) is hitting .355 with fifteen doubles this year. Ryan Bailey (Union Springs, NY) has an AMCC leading eight victories on the mound while Jon White (Clarence, NY) has a 2.50 ERA and Christopher Mattoon (Elmira, NY) has seven wins and an ERA of 2.73.

The Pioneers take on Hilbert in their opening game of the tournament on Thursday, May 11 at 1 p.m. at Pioneer Park. Penn State Behrend will take on Penn State Altoona in the second game of the day at approximately 4 p.m.

The winner of the AMCC Championship will earn the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championships.

11 a.m. – Game 6: Winner Game 4 vs. Winner Game 5
2 p.m. – Game 7 (if needed): Same as Game 6

Ticket Information
Tickets will be sold daily – $2 for students with ID, $5 General Admission, $10 Tournament Pass (access for Thursday – Saturday). Tournament Pass must be retained and shown at the gate for admittance. 

Ticket booths will be located at the top of the stairs above Pioneer Stadium and at the parking lot entrance to the baseball field off of Moland Hill Road.

Fans attempting to access the field elsewhere will be turned away.
