Caroline Starks, 85, formerly of Allegany County

Zephyrhills, FL- Caroline Starks, 85 of Zephyrhills, FL passed away on Monday April 10, 2023, after a brief illness. She was born on November 26, 1937, in North Bingham, PA to the late Lee and Louise (Owen) Jeffers. On December 31, 1960, she married Nelson Starks who predeceased her in 2008.

Caroline was a 1955 graduate of Northern Potter High School. She spent her early professional career as a hairdresser. She was formally employed as a secretary at Breeden’s School of Welding. Later she was employed by the Allen, Dygert and Hauser Insurance Company where she worked for many years.

She is a former resident of Allegany County. She and Nelson raised their three children in Whitesville, New York and later built a home and resided in Wellsville. When Caroline retired, she and Nelson split their time between summers in Friendship, NY, and winters in Zephyrhills where they spent much of their time on the golf course with friends and family.

Caroline had many talents. She was a gifted musician and played the piano proficiently.  She enjoyed crafting and was a talented seamstress.  She loved her family and made a special effort to spend her summers in New York with them. Caroline was known for her devotion to the Lord and raised her children to be faithful followers of Christ. Her family has fond memories of her using her musical talents by playing hymns in church. She believed in the importance of service to others and spent much time in volunteer work. Through this service she was able to touch countless lives and she will be remembered fondly by those that knew her.

She is survived by two sons and a daughter, Robert (Katherine) Starks of Wellsville NY. Steven (Elaine) Starks of Portville NY, and Lisa (Thomas) Corrigan of Canandaigua NY. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Joshua (Chanee) Starks, Jeremy (Brittany) Buff, Kristen (Jeffrey) Braaten, Brianne Starks, Gregory Starks, Adam (Aubrey) Starks and Samantha Corrigan and four greatgrandchildren, Adelaide, Harlan, Lauren, and Braxton.  Additionally, she is survived by two brothers, Robert Jeffers, Dale (Peg) Jeffers and a sister Joanne (Lee) Scully. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by a sister Elaine Horton and a great-grandson, Job Starks.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on May 13, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. It will be at the North Bingham Community Church, 2231 Bingham Center Rd., North Bingham, PA. Pastor Dennis Munro will officiate. The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be given to the American Heart Association.
