March 24-25 to benefit the Whitesville Class of 2024

The Whitesville Central School Annual Donation Auction is the longest standing auction of this type in Allegany County

The idea was brought to the area by the WCS music teacher at the time, JoAnn Savitsky Brown, from Long Island where this type of fundraiser was picking up steam. This year they are celebrating the 40th Annual Donation Auction.

Once at WCS, Louise Rogers Mattison, long time Business Teacher, took the bull by the horn and lead what would become a very successful fundraiser for each Senior Class and their senior trip.  And as we all know, our area has perfected the art of this fundraiser.  When the pandemic reared its ugly head this type of fundraiser was hit just like everything else, however the students and class advisors plowed forward two years ago and did what they could with a virtual auction, followed by being back in person.

The success of this fundraiser rests in the hearts of our Local Merchants and the Whitesville Community as a whole.  Without the generous support of long-time residents like Daryl Lewis and Tom Van Etten who have built beautiful Adirondack chairs, gliders, wishing wells etc.  each and every year, along with all of the Whitesville families who have donated and continue to donate to help the students at the school none of this would have been possible.

This year, the Whitesville Central Class of 2024 is spearheading the auction which will be held  Friday, March 24 3pm-7pm and Saturday, March 25th 10am – 3:45pm in the WCS Big Gym. Winning tickets will be pulled at 4pm on Saturday and you do not need to be present to win.  The WCS Class of 2024 is still accepting donations and would like to take this opportunity to thank our local merchants and the Whitesville Community for their continued support.  We hope to see you here!!
