Services are January 12-13 for the longtime pastor of the Yorks Corners Mennonite Church
On Friday, January 6, 2023 at 10:15 PM surrounded by family, our precious husband and dad, Eugene N. “Gene” MILLER, ran into heaven. His passing was peaceful, beautiful, and quick.
Born April 21, 1951, in Lancaster, PA, he was the son of Alvin B. and Ethel Newcomer Miller. On June 16, 1973, in Altoona, PA, he married the former Sharon Grove, who survives.
A 1969 graduate of Northern Potter High School, he earned a degree in Agricultural Engineering from Penn State in 1973. In 1976, he graduated from Elim Bible Institute with a diploma in Bible and Ministry. He served as administrator of Penn-York Camp in Ulysses, PA from 1973 – 2006. Gene co-pastored and pastored at Yorks Corners Mennonite Church from 1977 – 2022. He was conference minister of New York Mennonite Conference form 2009 – 2017. He was employed as a bus driver by Wellsville Central School for over ten years. His primary vocation was always husband and dad.
Surviving besides his wife, Sharon, are: three children, Joel (Rebekah) Miller of Kitchener, Ontario, Joanna (Aaron) Clark of Whitesville, and Jonathan (Grace Dowd) Miller of Melfa, VA; four grandchildren, Alex, Olivia, Graham, and Ava; a number of others who call him Grandpa Miller; two brothers, Donald N. (Jeanette) Miller of Ulysses, PA and Harold N. (Karen) Miller of Broadway, VA; nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by an infant sister, Karen Joy Miller.
Friends may call Thursday, January 12, 2023 from 1:00 – 3:00 and 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Yorks Corners Mennonite Church, 3350 County Road 29, Wellsville, NY, where Funeral Services will be held on Friday at 1:00 PM. Co-pastor Matt Havens will officiate. Burial will be in Yorks Corners Cemetery.
