Congressman Lee Zeldin is on the ballot for NYS Governor
New York, NY – It’s been over a month, and Lee Zeldin is still silent on the massive civil lawsuit against Donald Trump alleging that he has been lying to lenders and insurers for years by fraudulently overvaluing his assets by billions of dollars.
New Yorkers deserve to know whether Lee Zeldin, who has close ties to Trump, would pardon the disgraced former president if elected governor. While Zeldin tries to duck questions, the New York Republican Party chair and Republican Attorney General candidate have already weighed in on the lawsuit.
“Given Lee Zeldin’s incredibly close ties to Donald Trump, New Yorkers deserve to know whether Zeldin would defend and pardon the disgraced former president from the charges of this civil lawsuit,” said New York State Democratic Party Chairman Jay S. Jacobs. “Lee Zeldin has stood by Donald Trump since day one, and there’s no question he would put the interests of Trump and his far-right network of fraudsters, insurrectionists, and election deniers ahead of New Yorkers. We must reject the crony Zeldin-Trump agenda this November.”
Zeldin is a devotee of Donald Trump and earned his “complete & total” endorsement for governor last week. Trump headlined a fundraiser for Zeldin last month in recognition of Zeldin’s unwavering support for the disgraced former president in Congress, including serving as Trump’s “point man on impeachment” and voting with insurrectionists to throw out the 2020 presidential election results.
