The Arkport-Canseraga/Alfred Almond cross country teams look to make history this year for both the boys and girls. The boys (ranked 11th in NYS Class D) are looking for their 4th consecutive sectional title and state appearance, while the girls (ranked 4th in NYS Class D) are in search of their first team title since 2015 and their first state appearance.

The boys finished their regular season on Tuesday with a 17-0 record and the girls finished 15-2, their only losses to Addison (3rd ranked team in NYS Class D).

Both teams have battled injury and sickness, but are beginning to round in to shape just in time. On the girls side, veteran Jenna Franklin has paved the way and looks to make her second state appearance, followed by Lizzie Young, NyVeah Stewart, Alivia Kocan, Chloe Herman and new comers Hope Troutman and Paige Pfaff. The girls finished 4th at the sectional meet last year and 2nd in the county to Addison. To win a sectional title, they will have to beat last years NYS Class D 2nd place team – Addison, guided by legendary Coach Tim  Lyons. Addison has had dominant teams in the past, and they always seem to run their best when it counts. Coach Lyons legacy speaks for itself as he has guided countless teams to the state meet. The ACAA wolves have lost to Addison in all 4 of their match ups this season, but all by 7 points or less. The difference of a good or great day by a few key athletes could be enough to score an upset.

On the boys side, the Oakfield-Alabama team is the team to chase on race day. Oakfield is currently ranked 2nd in NYS Class D, led by stand out Connor Domoy. The wolves have been without their top runner for all but 3 races this season, and the trio of Braydon Brewster, Salim Ford and Ibrahim Ford have stepped up to fill the void while Pierce Young recovers from an injury. Seniors Jacob Broughton, Dylan Cannon and Alex Preston, along with junior Johnny Stauring, look to make the jump in the next 2 races to help push the wolves closer to a team title. At last years sectional meet Pierce placed 1st, Ibrahim 3rd, Braydon 7th, and Salim 9th. Jacob and Dylan finished 72nd and 79th. The team title will rest on the top 4 boys finishing in the top 8, a top 30 finish from our 5th runner and a little magic on race day. It would be the first time Arkport-Canseraga/Alfred Almond cross country has won both a boys and girls team title in the same season.
