Bath NY Police: Officer injured arresting dangerous felon

A Bath police officer was injured Thursday morning during a felony arrest outside the Budget Inn in Bath. Two officers spotted Derrick A. Mack-Vasquez and knew he was wanted on charges stemming from a domestic incident on September 28th. As the officers attempted to take the man into custody, he allegedly violently resisted. After the struggle, police said the officers were able to secure the man and make the arrest. During the incident, one officer was injured and taken to the hospital. Authorities said he was treated and later released.

Mark-Vasquez is charged with felony third-degree robbery and second-degree unlawful imprisonment related to the domestic dispute. He was also charged with resisting arrest and felony second-degree assault for the attack on the officer. He was transported to the Steuben County Jail.
